Open to 2026 Internships

Hi, I'm Shaheer M.

Computer Science student at Concordia University specializing in DevOps and Cybersecurity.

About Me

I build systems that are secure, reliable, and maintainable.

Who I Am

I'm a Computer Science student at Concordia University with a deep focus on Cybersecurity, DevOps, and AI.

I love the challenge of building secure, resilient systems, from architecting zero-knowledge architectures to automating robust CI/CD pipelines. My approach to engineering is methodical: measure first, then build.

Outside of code, I stay sharp through going at the gym with a disciplined schedule, cruising around on my motorcycle and taking walks to improve my creativity and get different approaches on problems I face during hardships.

Projects

Things I've built.

Secure Communication System

Designed and implemented a secure communication protocol applying advanced cryptographic principles. Mitigated system vulnerabilities by combining symmetric encryption, asymmetric encryption, and hashing for secure authentication and data transfer.

STANS DevSecOps Pipeline

Architected a centralized monitoring and logging system for the STANS cluster. Deployed Prometheus, cAdvisor, and Node Exporter for live resource tracking, alongside Loki and Promtail to aggregate container logs into customized Grafana dashboards. Evolved infrastructure from Docker Compose to a fully orchestrated Kubernetes (k3s) cluster on AWS EC2, provisioned via Terraform.

Open-Source CI/CD Automation

Authored and maintained complex CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions for a large-scale repository. Designed automated testing pipelines to validate code integrity, streamline PRs, and prevent regression bugs across environments. Managed large-scale issues by integrating Cypress E2E tests into automated pipelines.

Student Support AI Assistant

Built a conversational agent that answers student questions through semantic search over a knowledge base, embedding queries with the all-MiniLM-L6-v2 SentenceTransformer and matching them by cosine similarity. A RoBERTa sentiment model scores every prompt and automatically escalates the conversation to human support once negative-sentiment confidence passes 90%.

Spam Detection Engine (NLP)

Trained a Logistic Regression classifier to separate spam from legitimate messages using TF-IDF with 1-2 word n-gram extraction. Corrected a heavily imbalanced dataset (~87% ham / ~13% spam) with balanced class weighting, and shipped an interactive CLI that returns predictions with confidence scores alongside auto-generated confusion matrices.

Real-Time OpenGL Renderer

Wrote a C++ / OpenGL 3.3 renderer that draws an interactive pyramid transformable in real time from the keyboard. Uses indexed geometry (VAO/VBO/EBO) to eliminate duplicate vertex data, GLSL 330 shaders with compile-time error reporting, depth testing for correct face occlusion, and delta-time movement so animation stays frame-rate independent.

Heap Memory & OOP Geometry System

A C++ study in manual memory management and object-oriented design: heap-allocated dynamic arrays, plus a geometry system where a Triangle owns its three Point vertices and frees them in its destructor. Copy operations are explicitly disabled to prevent double-free bugs, and validation runs before mutation so a failed operation never leaves an object partially corrupted.

3D Chair: Custom OBJ Renderer

Modeled a chair in Blender to real-world dimensions and rendered it through a from-scratch OpenGL 3.3 Core pipeline with no third-party model loader. A hand-written Wavefront OBJ parser reads vertex and face data directly, fan-triangulates non-triangular faces, and bounds-checks every index before rendering. The loader computes the model's bounding-box center so rotation and scaling always pivot around the object itself, while auto-fit scaling normalizes any model to a consistent on-screen size.
